The Haute Couture Process
An intimate journey of creation, craftsmanship, and couture
At Sabrina Makar, each gown is a unique work of art, meticulously crafted to reflect the individuality, elegance, and spirit of the woman who wears it. The process is deeply personal, grounded in tradition, and elevated by modern design sensibilities. Here’s what to expect when commissioning a couture dress with us:

1. Private Consultation
Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation at our atelier or via appointment. Together, we explore your vision—style preferences, occasion, inspiration, and lifestyle. This is where we get to know you, so that every stitch tells your story.
2. Design & Sketching
Following the consultation, a series of bespoke design sketches is created. These illustrations reflect your personality and the creative direction we discussed. Once a design is chosen, we present fabric swatches, embellishment ideas, and finishing touches for your approval.
3. Measurement & Pattern Making
Precise, custom measurements are taken to ensure a flawless fit. A bespoke pattern is then hand-drafted specifically for your body. This serves as the foundation for your one-of-a-kind gown.
4. Toile Fitting
Before cutting the final fabric, we construct a toile—a mock-up of the dress made in a cotton canvas. This allows us to refine the silhouette, adjust proportions, and ensure comfort. Multiple fittings may be scheduled to perfect every detail.
5. Fabric Cutting & Embellishment
Once the toile is approved, we begin cutting the final fabric. Luxurious silks, chiffons, laces, or brocades are selected from the finest sources. Hand embroidery, beading, or other artisanal techniques are applied with precision and care—often taking hundreds of hours.
6. Final Fittings
The near-complete gown is fitted again on your body to assess drape, movement, and intricacies. Our skilled team ensures every seam, embellishment, and hem is flawlessly placed.
